FlatOut is a series of demolition derby-style racing games (formerly) developed by Finnish Bugbear Entertainment and (formerly) published byEmpire Interactive. The FlatOut series has sold a total of almost 3 million units worldwide.[1] FlatOut: Head On for the PlayStation Portable has sold over 300,000 units. Since 2010, FlatOut games are developed by Dutch Team6 Game Studios, with the first release in 2010 exclusively for the Wii system.
FlatOut was released on November 5, 2004 for Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation 2. Developed by Bugbear Entertainment,FlatOut is the first game in the FlatOut series.
FlatOut 2, as its title would suggest, is the second game in the FlatOut series. Succeeding the first FlatOut game, it released two years after its predecessor on June 30, 2006 for Windows, Xbox, and PlayStation 2. Similar to the first FlatOut, it was developed by Bugbear Entertainment. A version of the game for OS X was released by Virtual Programming on October 3, 2008.
It was eventually remade for the PlayStation Portable in 2008 under the title FlatOut: Head On. A remake for the Xbox 360 was also released in 2008 with the title FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage.
