They were certain that the signals were of alien origin and quickly alerted the directorate of astronomers to the oddity of their findings. The directorate estimated that the signals might be artificial oscillations of multiple jump-gate activity, that had spread by subspace transmission to Earth. Numerosity suggested a probable military activity.
